Update on plans for Michaelmas 2021

Hello everyone! We hope you are all having a lovely restful summer so far and staying safe.

This morning, the University provided continuing students and offer-holders an update on plans for Michaelmas Term 2021. This confirmed that:

  • The majority of teaching is expected to be in-person with online provision available in certain circumstances

  • Plans are in place for bringing back certain public health measures, such as social distancing, wearing face coverings and more large-scale online provision, if circumstances change.

We have additionally received assurances that in-person lectures will continue to be available online to all students.

Important Note on Remote Study Applications

Residency requirements will be in place, but the University has released guidelines for those who wish to apply to study remotely on the basis of certain circumstances, which include:

  • A health condition which makes a student more susceptible to infectious diseases or vaccines less effective

  • Where a student is unable to travel to Cambridge.

  • Where a student is concerned about returning to Cambridge because of any other underlying health condition.

This means you can apply to your college to study remotely on the basis of any health condition, including mental health conditions such as Anxiety. If you have any concerns at all about how to approach your College about your particular situation, or would like to discuss your personal circumstances in more detail before making an application to your college, please don’t hesitate to contact our Student Advice Service (at advice@cambridgesu.co.uk or on 01223 746999). Please do also contact the Student Advice Service if you are unsatisfied with how your application for remote study has been handled by your College and would like to appeal the decision.

The SU is here to help ensure all students feel safe to carry out their studies next year, so please get in contact with any questions or concerns and we will do our best to help support you wherever we can ??
