A student-run society that explores the effects on individuals, society and politics of developing technologies and their applications. It will focus on how those technological developments can be deployed to secure and further the ideals of social justice and democracy, on local, national, and international scales. There will be a focus on keeping events and writing accessible and understandable to a wide audience, such as by avoiding deep technical analysis. The society will be ambitious when inviting event speakers, focusing on thought leaders from across society, rather than only on technical experts. The society will also publish policy memos, short explanatory literature, and longer comment pieces on these topics. The society will take its impetus from students and have a special focus on reaching millennials and Generation Z, as they are most tightly bound up with recent technological developments.
