Interview

Volunteer Role

Details

We are looking for new Student trustees for Cambridge SU. The board, and this role in particular, over the next year will predominantly;

  • Provide leadership to all in the SU
  • Support the induction of the new CEO
  • Deliver the outcomes of the governance review

We are looking to fill three roles. To be eligible, candidates must be a University of Cambridge undergraduate or postgraduate student for the entirety of their term.

This role would be perfect for someone who is looking to gain valuable experience and help steer Cambridge SU as we enter an exciting period of change.

There are meetings 6-8 times per year; however, membership of the board's committees may involve additional meetings.

Key Responsibilities

The Cambridge SU Trustee Board’s powers are strictly limited to what is outlined in Cambridge SU’s governing documents and also those responsibilities the Board must exercise in law. This means, generally:

  • Assessing and managing the legal and financial risks to the charity
  • Ensuring that Cambridge SU operates inside the law
  • Identifying new legal and strategic challenges for the union

Induction and training will be provided to all board members upon appointment.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining a driven, change-making, student-led organisation. For an informal chat about the role, please contact Fergus Kirman, Chair of the Board and Undergraduate President 2023-2024 fergus.kirman@cambridgesu.co.uk

The deadline to apply is Monday 8th April.

Key Documents:

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from those from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds, as they are under-represented within Cambridge SU in some areas. We are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, on commencement, or once in post.
