Remote & Cambridge SU Building, 17 Mill Lane, CB2 1RX

Functional Relationships:

SU Staff and  Student Officers,  in particular the Senior Communications and Marketing Lead and colleagues in the Membership Team.

Hours of work: 

Part-time; Flexible working available Mon-to-Fri (14 hours per week).

Salary: 

£10 per hour

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an individual to join the Cambridge SU Communications & Marketing Team as our brand new Communications and Social Media Assistant. The role’s purpose is to support the communication outputs of Cambridge SU. Following existing styles and protocols of the students’ union, the role will support key communications processes including writing copy, supporting with social media posting, and reporting on posts’ performance.

We’re looking for a positive and enthusiastic individual who wants to be a part of a busy team. The ideal candidate will have some experience of managing social media channels and content creation.

An understanding and knowledge of the student experience and Students’ Unions is desirable. 

 

Overview of work schedule:

  • Schedule social media posts across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter)

  • Write copy, edit and proofread a wide range of communications

  • Coordinate and collect content from various departments in the SU

  • Stay up to date on social media trends, ideate original and innovative concepts for social media channels

  • Broadcasting live social content

  • Contribute your skills and ideas as part of a team producing engaging and creative promotional campaigns.

  • Support staff training on using different social media platforms

  • Collaborate with volunteers and members of staff across the organisation, attending meetings as necessary

  • Additional work may be required as necessary.

This role would suit a current student or someone looking for flexible work to fit around other work commitments. We are happy to hire someone who is looking to find an experience to grow their confidence and further develop their skills.

  • Job Type: Part-time, 14 hours a week 

(this can be completed as two 7 hours days or a couple of hours each day across the week; you are expected to complete the majority of your work during the SU core hours of 8:00-18:00). If you would like to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
