As well as representing students, it’s important that we support the campaigning of the low-paid workers in our University and Colleges.
The Living Wage Campaign
Many colleges pay their staff below the Real Living Wage and refuse to seek accreditation from the Living Wage foundation. The SU works with student members of our Ethical Affairs Campaign as well as local people to rank colleges on their commitment to fair pay, and will be working to pressure colleges to become Living Wage Accredited.
Justice4CollegeSupervisors Campaign
We work with the ‘Justice 4 College Supervisors Campaign’ with is part of the UCU (University and Colleges Union). The campaign advocates for supervisors to be paid fairly, and was launched by both the UCU and the SU in 2021. A large number of supervisors are Postgraduate students, which the SU represents.
