About

Screeve is a queer multimedia publication started in late 2021 by a group of Cambridge students. It is the first all-queer publication in Cambridge! Its name translates to 'writing' or 'to write' in Polari, an underground slang developed by gay British men in the 18th and 19th centuries. We publish a range of content, from photography collections to poetry, essays, short stories, and prose fragments, and host events where queer creatives in Cambridge can meet each other and showcase their work in whatever form. We've shown short films, live music, monologues, and poetry readings in the past! Screeve aims to be a non-selective, non-competitive creative space, so we publish every submission we receive, either in print or in digital format. Queer art still materialises itself in largely underground spaces, so we want to offer as many opportunities to showcase queer experiences in art as we can.
