Exam tips with Jessica

exam tips

It’s that time of year again, exam season, and I’m sure you are being flooded with ‘ Exam tips’, ‘ study tips’ and more, but amongst the noise, we want to offer a Cambridge insight from Jessica, your VP (Education & Widening Participation), to keep in mind during this stressful period.

Add variety to your study space!”

Instead of staying locked up in your bedroom or college library all day, try to make use of the diverse study spaces across the university, including:

  • your faculty library

  • the UL ( University Library)

  • outdoors in college gardens

  • and of course, the SU lounge

Done is better than good”

Even if you feel like your revision essays aren’t your best work, all practice is good practice for exams, so try to keep this motto in mind to keep up the motivation and remember that your revision doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to get done!

Keep up with your hobbies”

Although things quieten down in Easter term, it’s still really important to make time to do things you enjoy, and that will make you feel good. If you need some suggestions of things to do, check out the events that societies may be running during the term or maybe check out the university’s ’Give it a Go’ sports session to get in some beneficial movement!

Don’t become a recluse!”

Whilst it can be tempting to spend every waking hour revising, socialising and seeing your friends is still important for your wellbeing. So try to keep up a work-life balance, even with the busy demands of the exam season

Enjoy the sun”

It can feel like there’s nothing worse than having to revise whilst the weather is nice and the sun is shining…so why not make the most of it by going on walks to relax and take time away from studying, or by enjoying a sunny punting trip with friends to destress

Know where to turn if things don’t go to plan.”

We hope that your exams run smoothly, but it’s worth knowing where to get information should anything happen. The Students’ Union Advice Service has guidance here, and you can book an appointment with an Advisor.

We hope you can take these tips on board and look after yourself during this time. More information can be found at our Exam Support Hub.

A reminder that Cambridge SU will be at YOUR college and lecture sites, handing out Exam Support bags as a little pick-me-up. Keep an eye out on our Instagram for the weekly timetable.
