Peterhouse MCR AGM Online Voting.

Following the MCR's AGM, we are holding an online vote on the following motions that were proposed and discussed there: - Establish an 'External Events Officer' Role for the MCR Committee. - Mandate Compulsory Attendance at Consent Workshops. - Amendment of International Officer Role to be elected in Easter - Petition College to raise guest allowance at formal hall to 3.

Establish 'External Events Officer' Role on the MCR Committee

Establish a new "External Events Officer" role on the MCR Committee. The Officer will manage and increase the number of swaps each term and maintain our relationships with Merton (Oxford) and the Royal College of Music (London), easing the workload for the social secretaries. The Officer will initially be appointed (ideally from new 1 year students) so they can begin work in a timely fashion, before standing in November elections to receive a democratic mandate retroactively.

Proposer: Connor Kelly

Seconder: Alex Briscoe

Mandate Compulsory Attendance at Consent Workshops

This motion would make the consent workshop during the fresher’s week mandatory, and permit the committee to reserve the right to refuse to allow members who have not attended the workshop to sign up to MCR events. Responsibility for the organisation of the workshop and tracking of attendance is to be assigned to the Welfare and Equal Opportunities Officer(s).

Proposer: Larissa De Freitas Lyth.

Seconders: Beatrix Huissoon, Molly Kiniry.

Amend International Officer Role to be elected in Easter Term

This motion would amend the constitution so that the International Officer will be elected in Easter, rather than November. This has (erroneously) been occurring anyway, but we propose this arrangement should be made permanent since it will ensure that there is an international officer in office to assist Freshers as they arrive, which is one of the most crucial functions of the role. If no candidate is willing to stand, it will still be possible to fill the role in November by-elections if necessary.

Proposer: Andrew Walker

Seconder: Juan Moreno

Petition College to Raise Guest Allowance at Formal Hall to 3

This motion is a petition to College to increase the guest allowance at formal hall to 3, versus the current restriction of two. We believe that this measure would be an effective means to address the College's concerns about declining attendance and revenues, as aside from the extra guest allowed per person, it would allow for groupings such as two couples, or parents + sibling that are currently impossible and requiring people to go elsewhere. We believe that three guests is still a manageable party size and should not lead to a return to the behaviour issues which prompted the current restriction.
