About

CHaOS is a group of students from across the sciences, maths, engineering and medical subjects keen to inspire the next generation of scientists through our range of hands-on experiments!

CHaOS is a group of students from across the sciences, maths, engineering and medical subjects keen to inspire the next generation of scientists! We want to enthuse the public about science through our fun, interactive experiments. Every year we run three large events: a Winter Roadshow, visiting local schools and public events at the end of Michaelmas; "Crash, Bang, Squelch!", a one-day event forming part of the Cambridge Science Festival, and our seven-week long Summer Roadshow, touring up and down the country in the Summer vacation. We also attend lots of small weekend events during term time, taking part in local events and festivals.

In 2021-2022 we hope to be back on the road after a long 18 months of only being able to run virtual events over zoom! We already have some exciting events in the work so we will be keen for loads of new volunteers to join us!

If you want to find out more about getting involved, check out "Welcome to CHaOS" here (you can also find this in our Resources section) or visit the volunteers page on our website. To get updates about upcoming events subscribe to our email lists on the mailman system:

CHaOS is free to take part in - we pay for your transport cost and provide food during events. Membership is free and given automatically to all those who take part in one of our events - there's no separate need to sign up separately or in advance.
