Despite having a relatively small Chinese-speaking community, the culture of debating flourishes in the UK and persists throughout the passage of time. The Cambridge University Chinese Debating Team was founded in the early 2010s by a group of debate enthusiasts to represent the university in various competitions. The team saw a steady growth of number of members and was eventually registered formally as CUCDS in 2016. As a non-profit society, Cambridge University Chinese Debating Club seeks to continue promoting the culture of debating to the student community. The Club organizes talk, training sessions and social events for its members throughout the year. Its members have been actively participating in debate competitions in Oxford, Liverpool, Durham and London every year. All in all, the Club seeks to foster a continuing dialogue, discussion and exchange of ideas among debaters around the world. It is open to all Chinese speakers and learners.
