About

Cambridge University Rugby Fives Club (CURFC) is not rugby but is a sport similar to squash! Our highlight of the year is Varsity against Oxford as well as matches and socials throughout the year!

For those of you who haven’t played fives before, the best way of describing it is “squash with your hands”! Like tennis, fives can be played as singles or as doubles matches (which are more fun and hectic). We welcome players of all abilities, whether you have played for many years or are just looking for something new and fun to try - there will always be people of of a similar level and we are always happy to have new players. We generally train twice a week at the University Sports Centre, which is as casual or intense as you want to make it, and often go for a social after. For those who are more competitive, we participate in matches with other fives club throughout the year. The most important fixture is the annual Varsity match against Oxford, where we field a Men's and Women's team and all players obtain Half Blue awards. Perhaps the best part of the club is the social side of things - there are multiple club dinners and other social events held throughout the year!
