With just 3 weeks left until Freshers’ Fair, you are probably starting to think about what the day will look like and how you can prepare. We’ve collated some FAQs to help you prepare for the two days!
How should we run our stall?
It’s a good idea to start to think about which society members will be running your stall at the Fair. Once you’ve decided this, we’d recommend making a rota.
Keep in mind that the Fair runs from 10am - 4pm, but as stallholders, you will be expected to arrive from 9am to set up your stall in good time. Make sure to include setup and pack-down responsibilities in your rota. Freshers’ Fair can be tiring, so take breaks and swap with your society members regularly.
You are able to leave property at your stall overnight, but this is at your own risk.
Where will our stall be located?
If you have booked an indoor stall, it will be located in one of the 3 large marquees, with one chair allocated.
If you have booked an outdoor stall, you will be located along the snaking route of the Fair. You will be allocated two chairs.
PSA: If you have an outdoor stall, be mindful of changing weather conditions on the day and how this will affect your materials and clothing.
How should we do sign-ups for our society?
With thousands of students in attendance, this is a great opportunity to build your society.
An easy way to collect sign-ups is via Google Forms. You can link the form to a QR code, which you can print out and display on your stall. Additionally, it’s good to have paper sign-ups and a pen/pencil just in case! But make sure this is put away at the end of the Fair.
What materials should we bring?
We welcome any kind of stall decorations, as long as tables are left unmarked and clean at the end of Freshers' Fair.
You can bring posters, sign-up sheets, roller banners, individually packaged food (e.g celebrations) & freebies.
Do we need to read the terms and conditions?
Yes, please do! These can be found on the Freshers’ Fair stall holder information page.
A reminder that stickers will be confiscated as per our agreement with the local council, which allows us to host Freshers’ Fair on Parker’s Piece.
And finally, we hope you have a great time! If you have any further questions, please email activities@cambridgesu.co.uk . We can’t wait to see you there 👋
