Cambridge SU is moving!

We are moving! Map of Mill Pond Area with image of a removal van and location pin with text saying "We are moving!"

After being based at 17 Mill Lane for the past 6 years, the SU is now moving to a new and improved space. We’ll officially be calling the University Centre home from April 11th, 2022.

Why is the SU moving?

17 Mill Lane was always a temporary space for the SU, which is why we were limited in how much we could develop the space we had. The Gates Scholars, previously based at the University Centre, will be moving into Mill Lane, while we’re moving over to the university Centre. The new space is better equipped to house the SU, and the functions we aim to deliver.

What will the new space look like?

Our new home will have two key spaces, the SU Offices and the SU lounge. The Offices are where all staff and sabbatical officers will be based, and work from. The Lounge will be open to all students as a space to work, socialise and hold events. The reception will be based out of the lounge to support students with enquiries as well as delivering our normal services such as distributing free sexual health supplies, and gown sales.

The building work isn’t finished yet, but here is a mock-up of how the new SU Lounge will look:

Next week we’ll be updating with some photos of the space, as well as asking you what you want to see in the lounge.

While we are in the process of moving, some SU services will be unavailable from the 4th-8th April. These services include the sale and hire of academic gowns, printing & binding services and sexual health supplies. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact reception@cambridgesu.co.uk.
