Overview

Our Welfare Forums are aimed at Welfare reps on the J/MCR or in societies, but any interested student is welcome to come along!

During this forum, we’ll be discussing and comparing the different ways in which each college provides welfare support for their students. This is a great chance to learn what common services are lacking across colleges, as well as sharing best practice. As well as this, there will be time to bring up any other welfare-related items you’d like to discuss.

We'll be joined by Adam Welstead, the 'Head of Student Wellbeing' who coordinates the 'Heads of Wellbeing' in different colleges. You can ask him questions about college-based welfare.

The agenda is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kfOWMAQi2rSN3toX8z-y0dBkJjp33S2YSxLREi9U6vs/edit?usp=sharing

Some initial points of discussion will be:

  • Post-freshers week, what is your feedback about the welfare services in your college and how they supported new incoming students?

  • What support services are available in your college for students?

  • What welfare work does your J/MCR do to support students?

The structure of the event: this will be a relaxed discussion and you are free to leave at any time. There will be light refreshments for a variety of dietary requirements (vegan, gluten free) but get in contact if you have other dietary needs. The discussion will likely not last beyond an hour, and there will be an access break halfway through.

If you have any questions please email daisy.thomas@cambridgesu.co.uk or contact Daisy SU on Facebook or Twitter.
