Who am I and what qualifications do I bring?

  • Brittany (she/her) United States of America- New Jersey 

  • LGBTQ+ community member

  • Undergraduate degree in English Secondary Education (teaching certificate)

  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate 

  • Currently studying an MPhil in Education (Knowledge, Power, Politics)

  • Effective Altruism Fellow 

  • Carbon Literacy certified 

  • MPhil in Education (Knowledge, Power, Politics) Student Course Representative 

NUS Goals:

  • Articulate student-gathered feedback in the decision making process for new policies that create safe spaces for students

  • Challenge mandatory residency requirements (especially international students and during a time of pandemic)

  • Petition to discount course fees when classes are completely virtual 

  • Promote diversity inclusion training for all university staff and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ students

  • Increase availability for individual welfare and mental health check ins (especially during times of transition) 

  • Hold universities accountable for Green initiatives (such as the 2038 Net-Zero carbon goal)

Field Experience:

  • Studied a semester in New Zealand during my undergraduate degree

  • Fulbright Fellow English Teaching Assistant at Brazilian Universities for two years

  • Volunteered in Brazil at with US Embassy, Regional English Language office, Favela communities, orphanages, refugees, and low-income high school students

  • Research Intern for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research

    • Researched (African context): transitional justice, cyber mercenaries, policing insecurities, emerging crimes, and human rights corruption 

Career Goals:

  • Help students from all backgrounds to gain access to education

  • Fight inequalities and globally promote a voice for all citizens, especially students

  • Engage in and learn about the United Kingdom higher education policies

  • Assist in helping to make student voices heard across the country in the educational setting
