Dear ASCU Members,

I am honoured to present my candidacy for General Secretary of ASCU. As a community, we are bound by a shared heritage, a vision for African excellence, and the values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity.

My experience in fundraising for ASCU, alongside my commitment to African development and representation, has prepared me to serve in this vital role.

If elected, I will focus on three key priorities:

1. Strengthening Communication and Coordination

• Maintain clear and timely communication between the Executive Committee, members, and partners.
• Circulate meeting agendas, minutes, and updates promptly to promote transparency.
• Launch a digital members’ bulletin to share events, opportunities, and initiatives.

2. Enhancing Member Engagement and Inclusion

• Create spaces—both formal and informal—where all voices, especially new and underrepresented members, are heard.
• Organise academic and professional development activities, including workshops, speaker series, and networking with African leaders and alumni.
• Foster cultural exchange through joint events with other societies.

3. Strengthening ASCU’s Impact and Legacy

• Deliver impactful events that reflect our mission and values.
• Document and archive ASCU’s activities to preserve our history and guide future committees.
• Expand ASCU’s visibility within and beyond Cambridge through strategic partnerships.

My Pledge
I will be a dependable steward of ASCU’s operations, ensuring smooth coordination, informed membership, and activities that embody our values.

Together, we can build on our proud history and create an even stronger future for ASCU.
