Returning Officer

The Returning Officer (RO) will have overall responsibility for the elections. Their main responsibility is to handle any appeals submitted following election complaint outcomes, and communicating any resolutions, notices and outcomes of these appeals effectively.

They will also be required to undertake any of the Deputy Returning Officer duties, if escalation is required. The successful role holder will need to be available to make decisions and rulings throughout the election period.

The role holder must remain impartial at all times on matters involving the SU elections. A full breakdown of the role can be found in the SU by-laws, By-law 8, p.38.
