About
A dance society that teaches Tap, Jazz, Street, Commercial, Lyrical, Contemporary, Heels and Ballet from beginner to advanced and coordinates the Cambridge University Dance Competition Team!
CU Dance Society (CUDS) is a student-run society at the University of Cambridge offering dance classes in Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Lyrical, Street, Commercial and Heels. With options for all levels - from complete beginners to advanced dancers - it’s a friendly and inclusive space for anyone with a passion for dance.
Whether you're looking to express yourself, unwind after a busy day, or meet people from across Cambridge, CUDS is the perfect place to do it. Classes are open to everyone in the Cambridge area, not just University students, and welcome people of all backgrounds and interests. Sessions are led by a mix of professional and student teachers and take place mainly in college venues.
Each February, we host an annual showcase at The Leys School, giving members the chance to perform and celebrate their progress. We also run regular socials throughout the year, creating a fun and supportive community both in and out of the studio.
The CUDCT (CU Dance Competition Team) half-blues are a student-led dance competition team running under CUDS. The team competes in both Varsity and national competitions each Lent term, entering high-level, student-choreographed pieces in the advanced ballet, tap, street, jazz, contemporary, wildcard and solo/duet/trio categories. Auditions are held in Michaelmas every year.
The CUDCT is a great way to get involved in elite-level dance in a fun, social and supportive environment.
