Join the award-winning Cambridge University Gilbert and Sullivan Society for your chance to be involved in fabulous productions of (predominantly) the comic operettas of W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan! This includes both "traditional" Victorian-era stagings as well as a growing range of alternative productions. Our recent shows have seen a ladies' college transformed into a tribe of Viking warrior women, and a production of Patience that pitted hipsters and footballers against each other on a university campus.

We aim to put on one show each term, including a high-budget production in West Road Concert Hall in Lent. We are also privileged enough to have a regular slot each September at the famous Minack Theatre on the cliffs of Cornwall. These shows regularly sell out, and are a unique experience for all involved. What's more, we have taken many shows to the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival - now held in Harrogate each August - where we have won awards in multiple categories in the UniFest competition over the years, including Best Show in 2013.

The G&S Society is well known for its sociability, and has a strong events calendar in addition to its productions, which provides fabulous opportunities to meet lots of lovely people! The society may be dedicated to Victorian opera, but our values are anything but Victorian, and we pride ourselves on our friendliness and inclusivity. There are plenty of opportunities to get to know each other, and many members make friends for life. Our socials include sing-throughs of G&S operas, pub trips, and theatre outings. Every few years, we also host a white-tie ball, including Victorian ballroom dancing! 2020 has not stopped us from hosting a range of online social events, ranging from quizzes and games nights to a brilliant virtual open-mic night to showcase members' talents.

With ample opportunities for performers, musicians, techies and production teams of the highest calibre, inclusive productions and splendid social events, we really believe that the G&S Society has something to offer everyone!
