Featured news

Term may be nearly over but we’ve got an array of events for you next term! Keep reading to find out more…

Refreshers Fair

When: 19th January, 10am - 4pm

Where: University Centre

Refreshers is a great chance to discover or rediscover what different Societies, Sports Clubs and other Student Groups have to offer - be it looking for like minded people or stepping out of your comfort zone to try something new. There will also be local and national brands attending so you can stock up on freebies for the new term!

Leadership Elections

When: Nominations open 26th January, 9am

Think you can lead the SU? Then you’ll definitely be interested in our Leadership Elections to elect the incoming Sabbatical Officer Team, who  are elected to represent students to the University, locally, and nationally. They work full-time as part of the wider Students' Union staff team.

And, if you don’t want to run for a role, make sure to vote for who you want to be your future Sabbatical Officers (which opens in Feburary!).

Student Council

When: 26th January & 2nd March

Student Council is the top student-led decision-making body at the SU. Every J/MCR and School has a voting member and all students are welcome to come and propose, debate motions and contribute to discussions.

There have been two council meetings in Michaelmas Term, but don’t worry if you’ve missed these because there are two next term.

Cambridge SU Referendum

When: Campaign lead nominations open - 10th February

Next term, we’re also running another Referendum to give you the chance to have your say! Whether it’s influencing University policy, or having your say on the Union’s future direction, this referendum is your opportunity to make change happen at Cambridge. Ahead of voting opening, we give students the opportunity to become one of the Campaign Leads. Campaign Leads head up the teams of campaigners from both sides of the argument of the referendum. The two sides are Yes or No for each question. More info to come soon!

Reclaim the Night

When: 5th March

This event is an annual march in Cambridge and other places across the country. It is a night rooted in the struggles of sex workers. It is a night intended to reclaim bodily autonomy and space that is often stolen from us by gendered and sexual violence. It is a night to walk the streets without fear of persecution. This march is for women and those who have woman as part of their gender identity. Children of all genders are welcome.

There will be rallying speeches on Parker's Piece, followed by a march through Cambridge and a vigil. You are welcome to attend whichever parts of the evening work for you!

Student Members’ Meeting

When: 9th March

Join us for the annual Student Members’ Meeting, where every student has a vote. Unlike Student Council, all students are entitled to vote on policies and papers that come to Student Members', so make your voice heard!

This event will be online on Teams, more information will be shared closer to the time.
