Welcome, we are your Students' Union!

A very warm welcome to your new Students’ Union and from us, your new co-Presidents. Along with the rest of your new Sabbatical Officer team we’ll be working to represent and fight for students over the next year as part of Cambridge SU. You can find out a bit more about us and all of the team on our new site , and you’ll hear lots more from us about what we’re up to over the next twelve months.

Cambridge SU is a brand new organisation which will be the single Students’ Union for all students at the University of Cambridge. It has now replaced CUSU and the Graduate Union after last year’s referendum and lots of hard work over the last few months, and we’re excited for all the opportunities this new era will bring. We never imagined back then that we would be kicking off Cambridge SU under the current circumstances, but the last few months have really shown us the importance of strong independent student representation to make sure that our voices are heard and all of our interests are at the heart of the conversation.

It’s not just the Students’ Union that’s new – today we’re also launching our new website. Please do take a look round and explore all the things your SU has to offer, from the range of services available and information about all the different projects we organise every year to the SU Campaigns, a whole library of resources brought together for the first time, and plenty more too. Our new website also comes with lots of new features beyond what you can see today, and we’ll be rolling those out gradually over the summer.

We’re sure you’ll see the difference that Cambridge SU will make.

  • Postgraduates now have a single clear channel of representation, with improved support for our Postgraduate officers and a Union that is focussed on working well for the whole student body.

  • We’ll be providing more support for all the amazing things that students in our community do too, with more available to clubs and societies from the SU and a new role for the SU in training and supporting academic reps in departments, faculties and schools.

  • Finally, for the first time this year we have a full-time BME Officer, and we can’t wait to see all the work Howard will do for BME students.

A new SU also comes with new opportunities to get involved, whether that’s by joining one of the campaign committees or an academic rep in Michaelmas, keeping an eye on the volunteering section of our website, or coming along to one of the many events we run, both online and hopefully in person once it is safe to do so.

There’s a busy and exciting year ahead, and we can’t wait to get started. Stay tuned for more updates from us and Cambridge SU soon!
