As Michaelmas Term comes to an end, here is an update on what our Vice President (Liberation & Welfare) Melanie Benedict has been working on this year, plus some updates of what’s to come next term!
Michaelmas Updates:

Delivered two Activists Empowered Sessions - one on the Basics of Organising and one on Ethical Finance and Divestment

Organised a Welfare Matcha Event with Homerton Matcha Soc and Student Minds Cambridge
-
Held a drop-in session for Trans- Students on Trans-day of remembrance.

Attend a Trans Welfare Event at Newnham
-
Worked with the Head of the University Counselling Service to improve access to consistent counselling for students
-
Working with the ADRC to put together a campaign plan to improve access to lecture recordings for students
-
Joined a committee on the New Inclusive Pathways Project, which will pilot new inclusive practices in various departments across the university.

Relaunched the SUpermarket

Sat on Newnham Green and Social Justice Society’s Activist-Academic Panel

Started work on updating the SU disorientation guide, focusing on Solidarity, Community and Support
-
Supporting students in working towards their colleges divestment
-
Supporting HVSS in their recruitment process
-
Worked on the ‘Yes’ Campaign for a student mandate for Arms and Occupation Divestment in the SU Referendum
Next terms priorities:
