As Michaelmas Term comes to an end, here is an update on what our President (UG) Matthew Copeman has been working on this year, plus some updates on what’s to come next term!
Michaelmas Updates:

Met with 15 JCR presidents

Consulted with University and College stakeholders on my College Equity Project, working on measuring the real cost of living in colleges, welfare, and academic standards

Launched an Open Letter with Vice President (Community & Societies Officer) for our students in Gaza, which received 220 sabbatical officer signatures from 77 SUs nationwide

Completed Ethical Finance Training in association with SOS UK

Spoke for students in 24 University committees this term, including three University Council meetings, where we continue to push towards divestment from arms companies

Discussed shared priorities with 46 other sabbatical officers at the Russell Group Students’ Unions conference, focusing on international students and gender-based violence

Wrote an open letter to the Vice-Chancellor in support of arms divestment
Next term's priorities:

Run student life sessions, as in manifesto

Research for the college equity project, to present to senior tutors and create solutions for any issues raised

Continuing to meet with new JCR presidents, and organising training sessions for them
