Societies and sports clubs play a huge role in student life at Cambridge and that includes the SU Leadership Elections. Whether you’re thinking about endorsing candidates or encouraging your members to vote, this page explains what you can (and can’t) do, and how your group can get involved.

Endorsements
Can societies or sports clubs endorse candidates?
Yes. Registered societies, clubs and sports clubs can choose to endorse one or more candidates, as long as the decision is made democratically and follows their own constitution. If asked, they must be able to show how that decision was made (for example, meeting minutes or a vote record).
What counts as an endorsement?
If a society, club or sports club selectively approves or promotes certain candidates on their email lists, group chats, or social media pages, this will be treated as an endorsement.
External endorsements
Students cannot seek or promote endorsements from anyone who is not a current University of Cambridge student or a registered society, club, or sports club.
Society & Sports Club Voting Competition
We’re running a competition for society and sports club committee members during the Leadership Elections with prize money up for grabs for your student group!
Prizes:

How to enter
To be entered into the prize draw, complete one or more of the following:

Share a post or story on your society/sports club social media encouraging people to vote (using the graphic provided in this google drive).

Send a message in your society group chat (Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.) encouraging members to vote.

Include a voting reminder in your society/sports club newsletter.
Once you’ve done this, send us a screenshot as proof and you’ll be entered into the prize draw.
The more actions you take, the more entries you get, increasing your chances of winning!
Voting closes at 3pm on Thursday 26th February.
We will be in contact within 1 week of your society/sports club wins a prize.
