HEADS OF STATE, BUSINESS LEADERS AND GLOBAL THINKERS TO
GATHER IN CAMBRIDGE FOR LANDMARK AFRICA CONFERENCE

Cambridge, United Kingdom — On 22 and 23 May 2026, the Cambridge Union will host the
Cambridge Africa Together Conference 2026, a landmark two-day gathering organised by the
Africa Society of Cambridge University. The conference will convene students, academics,
policymakers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals, alongside heads of state, senior
government officials, business leaders, and other distinguished guests, for an interdisciplinary
exchange on the forces reshaping Africa and its place in the world.

This year’s theme, “Africa in the Age of Disruption”, reflects a moment of profound global
transformation in which Africa is not merely responding to change, but helping to define it.
Structured around five subthemes — Geopolitics and Global Realignment; Economic Futures &
Industrial Transformation; AI, Technology & Digital Sovereignty; Civic Resilience and
Governance; and Culture, Narratives & Soft Power — the programme will explore how African
actors, institutions, and societies are navigating shifting power relations, reimagining economic
futures, asserting technological agency, strengthening civic life, and shaping the narratives through
which the continent is understood. Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside
conversations, and networking opportunities, the conference will foster dialogue across sectors,
generations, and geographies.

For Africans, members of the diaspora, as well as anyone invested in Africa’s political, economic,
technological, and cultural futures, the conference offers an important platform for exchange,
connection, and forward-looking debate. By bringing together established public figures, emerging
leaders, and globally engaged audiences, the Cambridge Africa Together Conference reflects the
growing importance of spaces that place African perspectives at the centre of international
conversation.
