“The aim of the talk is to give an overview of the Customary International Humanitarian Law Project, which is jointly led by the British Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The project aims to keep up-to-date the national and international practice which underpinned the rules of Customary International Humanitarian Law (IHL), identified by the ICRC in its seminal Study published in 2005. Since 2010, the Study and regular updates of practice have been available online on the ICRC’s Customary IHL Database. The members of the Customary IHL team will present an overview of the main principles of IHL, the ICRC Study, and their day-to-day work in updating the customary IHL database.”
