Our longest foray yet - Thetford Forest. This forest is in Brandon, a 30min train ride from Cambridge. For this event, there will be 15 tickets available - 10 for members, 5 for non-members. Make sure you get tickets quick if you want to come!!
When: 9th November, approx 10:30am-5:30pm (exact train times can be seen on Instagram)
Where to meet: meet at the Cambridge train station, from where we will catch a train to Brandon, walk 20min to Brandon Country Park, and return later via train again.
Cost: £3 for non-members, free for members (you still need to register for a free ticket). Train ticket is not included in the ticket price

If you intend to come on this foray you MUST buy a return train ticket in advance. This can be done on Trainline/other ticket provider.
What ticket should I buy?
We will be taking these trains Cambridge-Brandon:
OUTBOUND) 10:50-11:25am Greater Anglia
RETURN) 16:44-17:20pm Greater Anglia
The best option is to buy an ‘Off-peak Day Return’ ticket for £18.10 (£12.05 with railcard)
If you are a MycoSoc member: we will reimburse you for £5 of this train ticket cost - ensure you keep a receipt of your purchase. (Google Forms for reimbursements will be distributed later)
This foray will be a fun 3-4 hour walk around Brandon Country Park, where we try find as many fungi as possible. Never been on a foray before? No worries! We welcome everyone regardless of fungal knowledge - come along and have a go at using our field guides to ID what you find!
This is known as a fungal hotspot, so fingers crossed we have some good finds this year!!
If you own any mushroom field guides, feel free to bring them along! We will also provide ID guides to use on any fungi we locate. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear as it can get quite muddy, as well as warm clothing. Take with you any snacks/drinks you may want along the way.
To attend you must register for a ticket to this event: this gives us a better idea of how many are attending, and gives you access to a specific WhatsApp groupchat for this event where you can ask questions and share photos from the event.
