Overview

You may have seen some concerning news from the University over the break about the future of our vet school. On Thursday 4th December, the School of Biological Sciences, who oversee the vet school, recommended to the University that the vet school be closed, largely for financial reasons, and that the 2026 cohort (who are about to receive offers) be the last. This was later emailed to all current veterinary students and applicants. It was a decision made without consultation with vet students or staff and is plainly the wrong decision for one of the wealthiest institutions in the world.

The University is holding a “Discussion of the Regent House” online at 2pm on Tuesday 13th January. This is a chance for all University members to have their say on the topic and show solidarity with the vet school. All students, staff and graduates of the University can go, so we want as many people as possible there. To attend, you need to email the University Draftsman (UniversityDraftsman@admin.cam.ac.uk) by 10am on the day, from your CRSid email. To find out more, see here.
