Cambridge SU is seeking a postgraduate student to serve as a Student Trustee for the full 2026–27 academic year. 
 
To be eligible for this position, candidates must be a postgraduate member of Cambridge SU for the entirety of their term. 
 
This role is perfect for someone who wants to build leadership experience and play an active role to help shape the future of Cambridge SU.

There are five trustee board meetings in an academic year and membership of the board's committees will involve additional meetings.
 
Key Responsibilities

The Cambridge SU Trustee Board’s role and responsibilities are outlined in the Cambridge SU’s governing documents and also in the relevant charity law. This means, generally Board will: 

  • Set out the non-political, strategic direction of the SU - what sort of organisation do we want to be? 
  • Oversee the use of the SU's resources - how can students benefit most from what we have to offer? 
  • Ensure that the organisation is fit for the future, legally compliant, and delivering for our members. 

Full induction and training will be provided to all board members upon appointment. Experience in leadership roles or charities may be helpful but is not required. As a Student Trustee, you will bring student perspective to the work of the board, ensuring that members remain at the heart of everything we do.
