What we are working on

 

Our key priorities as an elected committee for the year ahead:

Building stronger links between the SU, JCR/MCR reps, cultural societies, and student-led and community-based anti-racist groups that campaign around issues of racial justice

Opposing the Prevent Duty and Hostile Environment - especially their encroachment on and growing entanglement in Higher Education

Campaigning for a safe campus

Better anti-racism training for students and student-facing staff

Targeted mental health support for BME students

Reforms to harassment and discrimination complaints procedures

Supporting Black and BPA (Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Arab) Widening Participation and taking action to close the Black Awarding Gap

Raising awareness about the diversity of experiences that are encompassed by the category of "BME" in order to build solidarity and strength
