Room booking

The SU Lounge at 17 Mill Lane is available to hire free of charge to student groups or societies and we also have a meeting room suitable for smaller workshops or discussions. Requests are subject to availability and to agreement of our terms of hire. Please be advised that we normally require at least seven days' notice of bookings.

80 capacity, including seating for approx 30 and room for more chairs if you provide them.


Sofas and coffee tables, café-style tables and chairs, projector with large screen, 2 x flat screen TVs, DVD player, PA system, WiFi.

Once the booking has been provisionally agreed, the following will be required prior to confirmation:

  • Read the Cambridge SU Room Booking Policy and contact roombookings@cambridgesu.co.uk if you have any questions or to notify Cambridge SU of an external speaker presence at your event.
  • Complete and sign the room hire booking form agreeing to the terms and conditions.
  • A refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. Please note the deposit may be retained if SU property is damaged or cleaning services are required. 
Type of event Deposit 
Type 1: meetings/talks/discussions/workshops that will not be serving alcohol £100
Type 2: small reception/small social gathering, serving alcohol £150
Type 3: Parties including Freshers' Squash £200
  • Your Event Coordinator needs to attend a room induction prior to the event to be briefed on emergency access routes and health and safety.

Selling items at an event is not allowed as it is against the Terms and Conditions. This includes but is not limited to food, beverages or merchandise. Similarly, selling tickets to your event (online or offline) is not allowed in conjunction with any room booking.
