This Michaelmas term (the first academic term of the year) we will be running two Elections these are;

Academic Rep Elections - Academic Reps are the voice of students in their respective subjects and Schools. They run on unique manifestos and are then elected by their subject peers to fulfil this role, which is an exciting opportunity to actively shape students' educational experiences here at Cambridge.

By-Election - A By-Election happens when a Sabbatical Officer role is not filled during our Leadership Elections in February. This October, we are looking to fill the role of ‘ Women’s Officer’. The officer will be the lead representative of women and non-binary students at the University.

Timeline:
Nominations open on the 7th of October at 9 am  and close on the 15th of October at 12 pm
Campaigning opens on the 18th October at 9 am
Voting opens on the  21st of October at 9 am and closes on the 24th of October at 5 pm

Terminology:
You may hear us, students or academics refer to this as ‘ Michaelmas Elections’ this is because they take place during Michaelmas term.

‘ Nominations’ - This term will mainly be used in conjunction with the Academic Rep Elections, it simply means to put yourself forward for a role.

‘ Run’  - This term will mainly be used in conjunction with the By-Elections, this similarly to nominations means to put yourself forward.
